In Galle, hundreds of lives were lost at a bus depot when the tsunami struck.
Mr. Chandre Monerawela made a promise to the
displaced fishermen in Galle in January 2005 and he is determined to complete this
final project on behalf of the Irish-Sri Lanka Trust Fund.
This building project of 10 houses started early in January 2006. These houses are being built in Galle
on land purchased by the Fund.
On October 10th The Galle District Housing Project was offically
opened, with the handing over of houses to the local families.
