The Rotary Club Pamunugama were left short of funds to complete a building project when the promise of grant aid did not come through. Funds from the Irish Sri Lanka Trust Fund allowed them to complete their project. This project is to provide technical education/vocational training and counseling to a pre-selected group of school dropouts/leavers and children whose education was effected by the Tsunami especially in Pamunugam, Bopitiya, Kepungoda and Dungalpitiya areas. This school was officially completed on 20th May.

Midigama Primary School, Matara District, Weligama (AGA) Division was built by funds raised by the Sri Lanka Police force. They had not enough funds to furnish the school and the Irish Sri Lanka Trust Fund provided funds to furnish the entire school.

Another project assisted by the Trust Fund is the St. Judes School in Negombo. Rev. Fr. Lesley Fernando and Rev. Sister Anthony Wijerathne are the overseers of this project. A lot of the tsumami effected children are being educated here. Also in this area 12 boats were given to the community to help families who were affected by the tsunami and a further two boats have been requested and are being sent presently.

Amanda Monerawela Hughes travelled to Aragambay in Ampara where she gave funds and materials to the community to help rebuild their area. These included: Sewing Machines, Bicycles, 4 Grocery shops were restocked and a computer was funded. Funds were given to buy cement, blocks, wood to rebuild houses along with a work bench and funding to repair the fishing nets.

50 Bicycles were donated for Fish Salesmen in Hambantota. Provisions to displaced families living in the temple in Berawela were also made by the Fund.

Suminda Ranatunga, a committee member, has made two trips to Sri Lanka where he visited the East Coast and provided funds to the communities effected and donated 40 mattresses to an orphanage. He also gave funding for renovations for houses damaged and also a priest in this area to help the community.
